Rap-A-Lot Records vor dem Aus? Nachdem der inhaftierte Drogenboss Michael "Harry-O" Harris aus Los Angeles bereits Suge Knight und dessen Label Death Row Records mit einer Klage in den Ruin getrieben hatte, sieht es nun ganz danach aus, als wäre das texanische Label Rap-A-Lot Records (Scarface, Z-Ro, Trae, Devin The Dude, Bun B) das nächste Opfer auf seiner Liste.
Während Rap-A-Lot CEO James "J. Prince" Prince bestreitet, dass Drogenboss Harry-O Mitbesitzer das legendären Labels ist, erklärte dessen Anwalt Steve Goldberg, dass Harry-O dem Label Anfangs 1,5 Millionen US-Dollar Starthilfe gegeben habe und ihm im Gegenzug 50% aller Gewinne zugesichert wurden.
Nun fordert der inhaftierte Harris seinen Anteil an dem dem Label und den versprochenen Gewinnen, welche ihm seit der Gründung von Rap-A-Lot im Jahre 1986 verweigert wurden. Bei der ersten Anhörung am 12. Oktober vor einem Gericht in Los Angeles stritt J. Prince allerdings alle Anschuldigungen ab und erklärte gegenüber der Presse:

"I've been dealing with Feds, snitches, and rats all my life, conspiring to destroy me and Rap-A-Lot. This is nothing new to me. It's interesting, you have this Harris guy, a L.A. rat, who's lonely and desperate because the best thing that ever happened to him has divorced him and moved back to Houston with all his money. The only explanation that I have for him waking up in prison after 20 years saying that I made an oral agreement for 50 percent of Rap-A-Lot is he must think that his ex-wife [Lydia] still has a special place in her heart for me."
James Prince' Anwalt Warren Fitzgerald Jr. fügte daraufhin hinzu:

"If Goldberg and Harris really think they have a claim, after 20 years of doing nothing, they can file a lawsuit, where the facts count, rather than grandstanding and publicity seeking in the media, and misleading the public with half truths and out right lies. The truth is Harris' claim doesn't stand a snowball's chance in hell in a court of law."
Nun bleibt abzuwarten wie sich der Fall entwickelt und die amerikanischen Gerichte den Ausgang beeinflussen.
